Binary opposition is the theory of two opposites for example Rich vs Poor

Binary opposition is found nearly everywhere, however is mostly seen in TV dramas and films for example super hero films nearly always have binary opposition like Good VS Evil and Hero VS Villain.

• Boy vs Girl
• Naughty vs Nice
• Young vs Old
• East vs West
• Hot vs Cold

I will use Binary opposition within my magazine to make my magazine interesting and appealing to my target audience.

Costume ideas for photos

Kinsley's costume ideas;

As I want pictures of Kinsley before she changed from pop music to house music, I also wanted her clothing to reflect the genre of music she is expressing.

Costume 1:
The first costume for Kinsley will be her girly costume which she will be reflecting her pop genre. I would like Kinsley to wear girly colours such as Pinks, Pastels, and textures on the clothing such as ruffles which can symbolize femininity.

Costume 2:
The second costume will show her transition from Pop music to House music which will show how Kinsley has grown up as well as reflecting the House music genre. To show the house genre I would like Kinsley to wear dark colours like black, I would like Kinsley to wear a black leather jacket to show that she has matured and become the house sensation she is.

By showing the different colours from light to dark shows the binary opposition of Young vs Old which shows Kinsley has matured.

James Smith's Costume ideas;

I would like James Smith to wear a navy/black top to show that he is sophisticated and modern .As I would like James Smith to be shown on a mid shot I would like him to be seen wearing a pair of headphones as this is a stereotypical item that we associate with DJ's.


 

Contents page draft

I have made a contents page draft to figure out and start what I want my contents page should look like, I have tried to include in my first draft some of the aspects I want in my final contents page.

As this is a first draft I will change certain aspects of the contents page to improve it.

Profile 1 -

Name: Lizzie Thompson
Lizzie Thompson is a representation of my target audience.
She's 21 years old, at university and has a part time job at a café which she earns her money from.
She loves house music and her favourite artist is Calvin Harris, she has seen him numerous times at festivals.
When she goes to do her weekly shop she buys the music magazine MIXMAG but she will buy anything that has her favourite artist; Calvin Harris on. She buys the magazine to be able to find out information on her favourite artists, festivals and concerts and latest songs in the charts.
Lizzie loves to listen to music on her phone and she has many social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter this is so she can stay up to date with the latest  updates.

Name: Carl Shade
Carl Shade is a 17 year old who is into any type of house music. He is currently doing his A-levels and get £10 a week from doing chores around the house from his parents.
When he goes to the shops, he browse's around the magazine to look for house magazines. He buys the magazines to be able to find out the latest news about his favourite house artist and to see what festivals and concerts are coming up. He hears many of his favourite songs on the radio and also listens to his music on his phone as well as having the social medias like Instagram and twitter to also be able to find out what is happening with his favourite artists.




Profile 3 -
Name: Taylor Robinson
Taylor Robinson is a 26 year old who loves to listen to house music. She is currently working in television and is earning her money through that. When she pops to the shops she looks for house magazines, what she looks for in a house magazines is to be able to find out the latest house songs, and to find out about up coming artists. She also listens to house music on her phone and on the radio but is able to find information out from her social media site on twitter.

Magazine front cover; practice

I have created a first draft for the front cover of  my magazine, I have tried to make it so that it will have some of the things I will feature for my final magazine.

As this is a first draft I shall make some alterations to it before it becomes my final magazine cover but to improve it I  would add more cover lines, I will need to experiment more with colour to be able to find the right colour for the cover lines.
